Director – Open Business Consulting
Paul has over thirty years experience working in the NHS and other parts of the public sector in finance and general management. He qualified as an accountant in local government working for 11 years in a variety of service areas including education, police and social services.
In 1985, he joined the NHS in Oxford where he led a number of programmes including the development of NHS Trusts and the Resource Management Initiative. In 1992, Paul moved to the South West and in 1995 became Director of Performance and Finance and Deputy Regional Director for the South West Regional Office of the Department of Health. Following reorganisation he became Director of Finance and Performance for a Strategic Health Authority before leaving in 2004 to form his own consultancy business. In recent years, Paul has undertaken many assignments working with government departments, the Welsh Assembly Government and the NHS on the development of new approaches to the management of capital investment and the development of business cases in the public sector. In 2007 he co-authored “Public Sector Business Cases using the Five Case Model”. He is an experienced OGC Gateway Reviewer Team Leader and has undertaken several mental health programme and project reviews.
Director – Rubicon Health Consulting
Andy is a qualified accountant and MBA graduate with Board level experience with public and private healthcare providers. He is a specialist in mental health services, business development, service redesign and efficiency, business cases, finance and marketing. Andy has 30 years experience of working in healthcare and an in-depth knowledge of strategy development. He has a strong track record in supporting health provider to develop a range of strategies, whether they be clinical, estates, IM&T or financial. Andy is particularly skilled at translating models of care into implementable plans.
Director – Cunliffe Analytics
Hannah is an experienced business consultant with high level of expertise in modelling, statistical analysis and the development of data-driven solutions for strategic planning. This is complemented by project management and general facilitation skills. A graduate statistician, Hannah has worked in a number of industries, including the healthcare sector, financial services, utilities, wines and spirits, automotive, telecommunications and media. Following a 5 year period with a major healthcare consultancy firm, she formed her own company in 2010. Her core skills lie in bringing structure to business problems, using analytical techniques to improve business decisions, and communicating solutions effectively
Director – Boardman Consulting
Steve has over 25 years healthcare experience, from having worked in and consulted with the NHS, the private sector and healthcare-related businesses. This has included the planning and development of two New Towns and research and planning in Social Services. His operational experience in the NHS and business embraces strategy, option appraisal, policy development, marketing, estates management and people management. He is also Chair of Brunelcare, which provides high quality housing, care and support for older people in the South West of England. A feature of Steve’s work is his ability to work at all levels within an organisation. He is skilled in creating and facilitating effective teams from groups and individuals representing many professions and points of view.
Director – Design Buro
John has over 20 years experience in the design of health and social care environments. He joined the Design Buro Architects in 1994, becoming a Director in 2000. In that time John has developed an expertise in developing projects from their strategic and conceptual stages through to successful realisation, assisting clients to match their aspirations and needs through creative, quality solutions. He has been responsible for leading a range of successful design projects in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Care. Achieving a high quality of design, where the patient is placed at the core, is always a focus. His work is evidence based, whilst still achieving a high level of creativity. This has been recognised with a recent project being shortlisted in the 2010 Building Better Healthcare Awards, “Best Hospital Design” category.
John is a member of the Architects For Health sub group of the Royal Institute of Architects and takes a keen interest in developments of healthcare design nationally and internationally. He acts in a research collaboration capacity with the Institute for Occupational and Environmental Medicine at University of Birmingham.
Director – Health Strategy Support
Andrew has been supporting NHS commissioners and providers to plan and deliver strategic change for 15 years. His experience includes Board and organisational development, successfully supporting several Foundation Trust applicants, market analysis and service planning, business case development and fit for purpose assessments. Clients include NENE Commissioning (the largest and one of the most successful GP Commissioning Groups) and South Birmingham Community Healthcare, who he is helping to develop their Community Foundation application.
